Dubai tasarım haftasında dikkat çeken pavyon: Absent Mudhif

Dubai Tasarım Haftası'nın Abwab komisyonu kapsamında Ola Saad Znad'ın "A Present/Absent Mudhif" adlı pavyonu, geleneksel bir misafirhane olan mudhif'i yeniden yorumluyor.


Güney Irak'taki Bataklık Araplarının antik inşaat tekniklerinden ilham alınarak tamamen kamış ve çamurdan inşa edilen bu eser, kültürel mirası koruma ve sürdürülebilir mimariyi vurgulama amacını taşıyor. Pavyon, iklime duyarlı tasarımı ve kamışın çok yönlülüğünü öne çıkarırken, bölgenin karşı karşıya olduğu çevresel tehditlere de dikkat çekiyor. Hem geçmişin dayanıklılığını yücelten hem de kaybolma riskine dikkat çeken bu proje, yerel zanaatkarlarla iş birliğiyle oluşturuluyor ve Ahwar'ın ruhuna bir övgü olarak tasarlanıyor.

As part of Dubai Design Week's Abwab commission, Ola Saad Znad's pavilion “A Present/Absent Mudhif" reinterprets the mudhif, a traditional guesthouse.


Inspired by the ancient construction techniques of the Marsh Arabs of southern Iraq, the pavilion is constructed entirely of reed and mud, with the aim of preserving cultural heritage and emphasizing sustainable architecture. The pavilion highlights the versatility of reed and its climate-sensitive design, while drawing attention to the environmental threats facing the region. Both celebrating the resilience of the past and highlighting the risk of its disappearance, the project was created in collaboration with local artisans and is designed as a tribute to the spirit of Ahwar.
