Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) Mimarlık Bölümü'nde 2024 ilkbahar döneminde geliştirilen bu köprü tasarımı, Nhat Nguyen'in, Christopher Bardt yürütücülüğündeki stüdyo kapsamında ürettiği bir proje olarak hazırlanıyor.
Köprü, Providence kent merkezinden geçen nehrin kuzey kıyısındaki yürüyüş yolunu Performans Sanatları Merkezi'ne bağlıyor. Masif ahşap ve çelik elemanlarla inşa edilen yapı, modüler ahşap kirişlerin çelik taşıyıcılara sarılmasıyla oluşan geçirgen bir strüktür üzerinden kurgulanıyor. Bu sistem, korkulukla bütünleşerek hem yapısal bütünlük sağlıyor hem de akışkan bir hareket hattı oluşturuyor.
Batıya doğru genişleyip nehre doğru alçalan bölüm, kullanıcıya oturma ve manzara izleme imkânı sunuyor. Yapı, çevresiyle kurduğu bu dinamik ilişki sayesinde mimari, peyzaj ve su arasındaki sınırları bulanıklaştırıyor.

This bridge design, developed in the spring of 2024 at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) Department of Architecture, is a project produced by Nhat Nguyen under the supervision of Christopher Bardt.
The bridge connects the walking path on the north bank of the river running through downtown Providence to the Performing Arts Centre. Constructed with massive wood and steel elements, the structure is designed around a permeable structure formed by modular wooden beams wrapped around steel supports. This system integrates with the railing to provide structural integrity while creating a fluid movement line.
The section that widens towards the west and slopes down towards the river offers users seating and views of the landscape. Through this dynamic relationship with its surroundings, the structure blurs the boundaries between architecture, landscape, and water.
