Çelik ızgara içinde yeniden kurgulanan Dionysos Tapınağı, arkeolojiye yeni bir bakış sunuyor

İtalya'nın güneyinde, Herakleia Antik Kenti'nin akropolünde yer alan Dionysos Tapınağı, Gijs Van Vaerenbergh Architects tarafından çağdaş bir yorumla yeniden sahneleniyor. Policoro'da konumlanan bu kalıcı enstalasyon, yalnızca temelleri ve sunak kalıntıları bulunan tapınağı, çelik bir ızgara yapı içerisinde asılı duran heykelsi bir hacme dönüştürüyor. Geleneksel olarak yıkım sürecinin yukarıdan aşağıya gerçekleştiği kabul edilirken, bu projede süreç tersine çevrilerek çatı, üst duvar parçaları ve sütun bölümleri yeniden inşa edilen ilk katmanlar olarak kurgulanıyor. @gijsvanvaerenbergh


Ziyaretçiler, asılı yapay kalıntıların altında dolaşırken aynı zamanda zemindeki orijinal arkeolojik izlerle doğrudan karşılaşıyor. Proje, kalıntı kavramına yalnızca tarihsel bir tanık olarak değil, aynı zamanda kültürel temsil ve mekânsal sahneleme aracı olarak yeni bir bakış açısı getiriyor.

The Dionysus Temple, reimagined within a steel grid, offers a new perspective on archaeology


Located on the acropolis of the ancient city of Herakleia in southern Italy, the Dionysus Temple is being reimagined with a contemporary interpretation by Gijs Van Vaerenbergh Architects. This permanent installation in Policoro transforms the temple, which only has its foundations and altar remains, into a sculptural volume suspended within a steel grid structure. While traditionally the process of destruction is considered to occur from top to bottom, in this project the process is reversed, with the roof, upper wall sections, and column sections being the first layers to be reconstructed.


Visitors walk beneath the suspended artificial ruins while also encountering the original archaeological traces on the ground. The project brings a new perspective to the concept of ruins, not only as historical witnesses but also as tools for cultural representation and spatial staging.
