Expo 2025, “Yaşamlarımız İçin Geleceğin Toplumunu Tasarlamak" temasını merkeze alarak Osaka'nın Yumeshima Adası'nda gerçekleşiyor. Alanın merkezinde yer alan Grand Ring, Sou Fujimoto tarafından tasarlanıyor ve yaklaşık 2 kilometrelik çevresiyle Expo'nun ana dolaşım hattını oluşturuyor. Guinness Dünya Rekorları tarafından “dünyanın en büyük ahşap mimari yapısı" olarak tanımlanan bu halka, modüler ve sökülebilir bir ahşap sistemle inşa ediliyor. Japon marangozluk yöntemleri, modern tekniklerle birlikte bu yapıda kullanılıyor. Ring Skywalk adı verilen üst dolaşım rotası 12 metre yükseklikte konumlanıyor ve ziyaretçilere hem Expo alanına hem de Osaka Körfezi'ne doğru farklı bakışlar sunuyor. Yaklaşık yüzde 70'i Japon sediri ve selvisinden oluşan ahşap malzeme paleti, yapının genel strüktürünü oluşturuyor. Expo kapsamında yer alan Almanya, Endonezya ve Filipinler gibi çeşitli ülke pavyonları da Grand Ring ile ilişkili bir yerleşim düzeni içinde konumlanıyor.

Expo 2025 Osaka's Grand Ring is being built as the world's largest wooden architectural structure.


Expo 2025, centered around the theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives," is taking place on Yumeshima, an artificial island in Osaka. At the heart of the site, the Grand Ring, designed by Sou Fujimoto, forms the Expo's main circulation route with a circumference of approximately 2 kilometers. Recognized by the Guinness World Records as “the world's largest wooden architectural structure," the ring is constructed with a modular and dismantlable wooden system. Traditional Japanese joinery techniques are used alongside modern construction methods. The elevated circulation route, called the Ring Skywalk, is positioned 12 meters above the ground, offering visitors views of both the Expo site and Osaka Bay. Around 70% of the timber used is Japanese cedar and cypress, forming the main structure. National pavilions, including those of Germany, Indonesia, and the Philippines, are arranged within the Grand Ring's layout.
