Hopkins Sanat Merkezi yeni hacimlerle genişliyor

Snøhetta, New Hampshire'daki Dartmouth College kampüsünde yer alan Hopkins Sanat Merkezi'nin genişletme projesini tamamladı. 1960'larda Wallace K. Harrison tarafından tasarlanan yapıya eklenen Recital Hall ve Daryl Roth Studio Theatre, mevcut yapı ile kurdukları mekânsal diyalog aracılığıyla merkezin bütüncül kimliğini güçlendiriyor. Bronz tonlu çelik paneller ve prekast beton yüzeyler, malzeme dili üzerinden hem kontrast hem de kampüsün tarihsel bağlamına referans oluşturuyor.


Yeni hacimler, Harrison'ın kemerli cephe kurgusuna ritmik bir karşılık vererek Snøhetta'nın “dans partnerleri" olarak tanımladığı bir yaklaşım sunuyor. Yapılar, aralarındaki Forum adlı cam ve ahşap kaplı ortak mekân aracılığıyla birbirine bağlanıyor ve bu alan, sanat merkezi içinde yeni bir sosyal odak tanımlıyor. Genişleme projesi, mevcut mekânları yeniden işlevlendirirken kampüsün kültürel sürekliliğini çağdaş bir mimari dil üzerinden yeniden tanımlıyor.

Snøhetta has completed the extension project for the Hopkins Art Centre on the Dartmouth College campus in New Hampshire. The Recital Hall and Daryl Roth Studio Theatre, added to the building designed by Wallace K. Harrison in the 1960s, reinforce the centre's holistic identity through the spatial dialogue they establish with the existing structure. Bronze-toned steel panels and precast concrete surfaces create both contrast and reference to the campus's historical context through their material language.


The new volumes offer a rhythmic response to Harrison's arched façade design, presenting an approach that Snøhetta describes as 'dance partners'. The buildings are connected by a shared space called the Forum, clad in glass and wood, which defines a new social focus within the art centre. The expansion project redefines the campus's cultural continuity through a contemporary architectural language while repurposing existing spaces.
