Centres for Traditional Music, Bahreyn'in Muharraq kentinde geleneksel müzik kültürünü kamusal yaşamla buluşturmayı amaçlayan bir yenileme projesi olarak tasarlanıyor. OFFICE Kersten Geers David Van Severen imzalı yapı, korunmuş bir konut birimi ile ona eklemlenen yeni bir açık toplanma alanından oluşuyor. @office | @basprincen


Yapının en belirleyici öğesini, tüm cepheyi saran ve gerektiğinde yukarı doğru katlanabilen çelik mesh yüzey oluşturuyor. Yarı geçirgen bu cephe elemanı, iç mekânları sert güneş ışığına karşı korurken, yapı kullanıma açıldığında katlanarak kamusal alanla doğrudan görsel bir ilişki kurulmasına olanak tanıyor.


Beton platformlar ve dairesel kolonlar üzerinde yükselen strüktür, cam ve ahşap yüzeylerle sade ancak geçirgen bir mekân dili kuruyor. Servis birimleri yapının çevresine dağıtılarak hem işlevsel ihtiyaçlar karşılanıyor hem de iç-dış mekân sürekliliği destekleniyor.

Foldable façade surface 🪙


Centres for Traditional Music is a renovation project designed to bring traditional music culture into public life in Muharraq, Bahrain. Designed by OFFICE Kersten Geers David Van Severen, the building consists of a preserved residential unit and a new open gathering area attached to it. @office | @basprincen


The most distinctive feature of the building is the steel mesh surface that wraps around the entire façade and can be folded upwards when needed. This semi-transparent façade element protects the interior spaces from harsh sunlight while allowing a direct visual connection with the public space when the building is in use.


The structure, which rises on concrete platforms and circular columns, creates a simple yet permeable spatial language through glass and wood surfaces. Service units are distributed around the building, both meeting functional needs and supporting the continuity between interior and exterior spaces.
