Mimari maketler, genellikle tasarım sürecinde mekânı anlamlandırmaya, hacim ve oran ilişkilerini somutlaştırmaya yardımcı olmasıyla öne çıkar. Farklı malzemelerle çalışmak, hem yapısal mantığı hem de dokusal etkiyi deneyimleme imkânı sunar. Kağıt, mukavva, ahşap, pleksi, metal ve alçı gibi malzemeler, maketin amacına ve anlatmak istediği katmana göre değişiklik gösteririr.


Kimi zaman kentsel bir ilişkiyi ortaya koymak için 1/1000 ölçeğinde çalışılırken, kimi zaman detay ve malzeme birleşimlerini anlatmak için 1/20 veya daha büyük ölçeklerde maketler üretilir. Architectural models generally stand out in the design process as they help to make sense of space and to concretise volume and proportion relationships. Working with different materials offers the opportunity to experience both structural logic and textural effect. Materials such as paper, cardboard, wood, plexi, metal and plaster vary according to the purpose of the model and the layer it wants to tell.


Sometimes models are produced at a scale of 1/1000 in order to reveal an urban relationship, while sometimes models are produced at a scale of 1/20 or larger in order to explain details and material combinations. Despite the widespread use of digital tools, the practice of model making still holds an important place in architectural education. What do you think about this subject?
