Ruoholahti kıyısında yükselen High Tech Centre nasıl bir dönüşüm sağladı?

Bir zamanlar tersane alanı olan Ruoholahti kıyısı, bugün konut, ofis ve sanat okullarının bir arada bulunduğu canlı bir kentsel dönüşüm bölgesi. Bu dönüşümün simge yapılarından biri, 2001'de tamamlanan High Tech Centre (HTC). IT ve medya şirketlerine ev sahipliği yapan beş ofis bloğu, Kai Henrik Väinö Wartiainen imzasını taşıyor.


Kompleksin tasarımı, bölgede geçmişte yer alan vinçlerin ve gemi inşa tesislerinin endüstriyel ruhunu yansıtıyor. Turuncu çelik dış strüktürler, yangın merdivenleri ve çıkmalı üst katlar, hem taşıyıcı sistemi görünür kılıyor hem de sahil siluetinde güçlü bir kimlik oluşturuyor.


Cepheler her binada benzer düzende olsa da, kullanılan renkler ve malzeme dokuları sayesinde her biri kendi karakterine sahip. Deniz kenarındaki konumu, cam cephelerde gün boyu değişen yansımalarla mekân algısını zenginleştiriyor.


HTC, esnek plan kurgusu ve yüksek teknik standartlarıyla, hem işlevsel hem de estetik açıdan Helsinki'nin çağdaş mimari örneklerinden biri olarak öne çıkıyor.

How has the High Tech Centre, rising on the shores of Ruoholahti, brought about a transformation?


Once a shipyard area, the Ruoholahti waterfront is now a vibrant urban regeneration zone combining residential, office and art school facilities. One of the iconic structures of this transformation is the High Tech Centre (HTC), completed in 2001. The five office blocks, which house IT and media companies, bear the signature of Kai Henrik Väinö Wartiainen.


The complex's design reflects the industrial spirit of the cranes and shipbuilding facilities that once stood in the area. The orange steel exterior structures, fire escapes and projecting upper floors both reveal the load-bearing system and create a strong identity in the coastal skyline.


Although the facades follow a similar pattern across each building, the use of different colours and material textures gives each one its own character. Its coastal location enriches the spatial experience with ever-changing reflections on the glass facades throughout the day.


With its flexible layout and high technical standards, HTC stands out as one of Helsinki's contemporary architectural examples, both functionally and aesthetically.
